Bring It On

As far as career highlights go, winning a Mercury Prize is definitely up there as one of the most memorable. For GOMEZ, the opportunity to relive BRING IT ON will be made a reality when they head out on tour to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the critically acclaimed classic.

Alongside the tour, a four-CD edition of Bring It On providing remastered versions, 1997 demos, radio sessions and their Glastonbury set will be made available to doting fans. The 63 track compilation gives an insight of all things Gomez and takes you back to the period where they pipped the likes of Pulp and The Verve to a surprise Mercury Prize crown.

It was the combination of lo-fi electronica and indie-rock that provided Gomez with a sound ahead of their time. However, Bring It On was used as a cornerstone to a glittering career where Southport exported one of the greatest 90s bands to America and Australia. DJ Steve Lamacq heaps praise on them, saying: “After Britpop had collapsed on itself, there was a massive hole on the evening session, waiting to be filled. The audience was really receptive to sounds that maybe wouldn’t have fitted in a few years ago.” Now, though, twenty years on we are left with an album with longevity and a legacy where several shows sold out instantly.

Taking the album around the UK; from Brighton to Glasgow via Dublin, Nottingham and Manchester to name just a handful of dates. Twenty years on, expect polished versions of massive tunes such as Whippin’ Piccadilly and Free to Run.
