SHOEGAZE Scots WYLDE have released new single Human.
Human starts with deep underlaying drums and a poking bassline. Chloe Dueñas’ bass almost leads to a Stone Roses style track for a brief period.
Then piercing guitars from Robbie Broome follow to drift Human into a definite shoegaze number. Said guitars are very Diiv-esque and work brilliantly with the drums to create a steady, catchy rhythm.
It is not until the 1:20 mark that a soft, ghostly, distant vocal enters Human. Monica Anderson’s voice glides elegantly over the repeating backing instrumentation, which Jamie Walker’s drums command.
There is no hiding of the fact that Human dabbles in the shoegaze scene of the 90’s, but brings a 2016 freshness to the table.
It will be interesting to see how Wylde’s shoegaze sound develops with further releases.
